Hi All,

I want to get a serious lock (maybe disc and chain) and was looking for advice on what to get?

Would ideally like not to spend a mountain of money......

All advice welcome....;)

When/where are the locks for ? Will make a big difference to the advice

+1 all the way with Almax,a beast of a chain and lock to boot & sink in a defiant ground anchor.sorted :friday

Abloy (362?).

None of the 'top' padlocks will last for more than a few seconds though when a scroat can pick up a petrol engined angle grinder from Ebay for 50 quid

the longer it holds them up and the more noise they make aids as a deterrent

Almax [very heavy chain-I bought 2M length so I could wrap it around a post] +squire lock-I always use it if I'm parked up for more than a few minutes.

4 pikeys, an angle grinder and an open transit van...police response time 2 weeks (claim it on your insurance sir, we can't come out, it's a health and safety issue) but would you like to speak to someone from victim support....

Time and noise are no longer a deterrent :(

For situations where there aren't 4 fully equipped pikeys, I'd recommend the Almax too. :D

Get a chain with anti scratch sleeve that will thread through the wheels/frame without getting snagged. There is not much point in having an F-off chain if its too inconvenient to use. Also park the bike so it blocks access to the chain and anchor such as close to a wall. Last of all have some CCTV recording with a visible and a hidden cam with warning signs of course.
