I think I found my choice by accident today, it's a single width road, Lythe Fell Road, running north from Slaidburn to High Bentham across the fells. At the top the all round views are superb and it made a nice change from the usual Hardknott etc. runs and can be taken at a fairly fast pace if you're in the mood.
This phone pic shows the road type but sadly the landscape pics didn't turn out worthy of posting.
OK it's not in Timolgra's or Srace7's league but as it's a wee bit closer it's highly recommended :thumb2

One of my favourites too, especially on the way to/from a bacon and mushroom butty at the cafe in Slaidburn - we rode over it yesterday and it looked stunning in the low winter sun

I'l have to look out for that place as the queue at the Devil's Bridge caravan was bloody awful :thumb2

Best bacon butty in the north :thumb2

Didn't have any cash on us until Trudi went to the ATM in High Bentham, so we had to settle for a burger at Devils Bridge

Good butty stop at caton...less busy that DB, cheaper too. Take the fell road up - bacon butty at caton - trough back down....:D In fact, that's exactly what I'm going to do today I think...:thumb:thumb

I have to agree with you Yamonda, it's lovely in that area. I've been a regular rider around the forest of bowland area for many years, at first I never saw many bikes, but over the last three or four years I've noticed it had been getting ever more popular. Won't be long now before it gets ruined by the masses. :(
Were you riding along the A59 Sunday morning from the M6 towards Clitheroe just before noon?

I noticed a few GS1200s at Slaidburn cafe yesterday lunchtime (I was on my Tiger1050)

Aarrrgh !!! too late !!!!! I've just promised my wife we'll go out shopping

oorrr...nevermind! I was gonna do it yesterday, but the thought of all the crotch rockets that'd be out put me off so I did some DIY instead....Doubt there'll be anyone up there today..:D

Cat & Fiddle

Still some snow yesterday.

It got worse, no pictures as theer was no where to pull over.

Yep that was probably me :)

I'd followed 4 riders along there, the tail end guy, on a blue Tiger, stopped to check if a rider on an old BSA was ok :thumb2 .... was that you ?

Yes that was me, he had a problem with the carb, but didn't need any help. I always try to offer assistance, as I've been helped out in the past.
We were travelling a bit sedately yesterday as my mates 19 year old son had not long passed his test, he was riding a blue restricted Suzuki SV650.

Steve
The day looked equally as good as yesterday :thumb2

Fatal
By coincidence I later stopped opposite Hoghton Tower to check a guy on a cracking rebuilt '56 Goldstar who was fettling his racing carb setup :D

I did another first yesterday crossing the causeway to Sunderland :thumb2

Always known that road as the Tatham Road, but you live and learn. The road parallel and to the east, over Bowland Knotts is another good road. One of my favourites short routes is A59 east, then Sawley to Forest Becks and Wigglesworth. Left turn then a right over Bowland Knotts towards Clapham. Turn left to Bentham and Lythe Fell to Slaidburn. Then Whitewell, Longridge Fell, Ribchester and home. A good little run.

Picture is at the top of Lythe Fell

I'll do that run Ricardo if I can get out again this week, I'm half way through much promised decorating so can't be too hardfaced :D

There were a fair few old Beezas about at the weekend, some exceptionly good, there was a very tatty one at Slaidburn, probably original, but showing more than a bit of 'patina of age'. I must get my old norton fettled, but will be at least another year yet :(
I take it you mean Sunderland Point near Lancaster, nice spot :)
