Hi,
Any recommendations for software for remote access to PC at home?
It is behind a wifi router - make any difference?
Ta,

It depends on what you are running, I think XP professional or the higher end Vista installs have a thing called "Remote Desktop" that can be enabled, and gives you a virtual screen on the computer at home, but you will need to enable your router to run this.

There is that annoying advert on TV from www.gotomypc.com, which is built on Citrix (which is a very good way on remote controlling a PC), although not tried it.

I use a product called "Proxy Host/Master" at work, but this is bloody expensive.

What do you want to do from home? As games, videa & graphics are very slow and un-usable mostly. Remote desktop is probably the best utility.

Hi,
Mainly to problem solve from here to there. Here I have Vista, there I think XP Professional, maybe XP-Home but I will check that.
Thanks for tips!

For problem solving, then remote desktop should work a treat.

The remote desktop client is called "mstsc.exe", and is located in your ">start menu>All Programs>Accessories>Remote Desktop Connection" in XP.

Under the Control panels>System Properties>Remote(tab) the bottom panel is Remote Desktop. Hopefully this will be be on there, and ticked to say its enabled.

+1 again - brilliant and free as well, mix it with VNC and you can control virtually anything.

Use gosupportnow remote support tool. I use it for remotely accessing computers. It is very easy to use and provides guaranteed connection wherein you can invite your customers to join your support session by using a browser on any platform (Windows, Mac, Linux, UNIX or iPhone) to view your desktop. This view-only attendance is guaranteed and Gosupportnow allows you to show your customers how a computer application should work.
