Today, I was a twat of the first order, Yep I tried to drive off with my lock on.:tosser

No surprise that I did not get very far but as its was a steel cable lock no damage was visible, but after that I have a nice vibration in time with front wheel and when I got home and checked there its buckled with about a millimetre of run out.

What’s the best of getting this fixed?

1.Borrow a dial gauge and have a play. Is this as easy as it sounds?

2.Take it to Hagons and get them to fix it

3.Take it to my local dealers (SBW). Will they just say, its broke here is the price of a new one?

4. Any other options?

One mill. 9 out of 10 wheels are worse than that.

Loosen all the fork/fork brace/spindle nuts. Bounce the front of the bike up and down a few times then retighten it all. Now see if the vibration has gone.

I followed Steptoe's instructions this weekend and the vibrations have gone.

Thanks very much.....

Buckled wheel

My front wheel was out of line far enough to cause a disconcerting shimmy in the 20-40mph range, not dangerous but not right. I took the wheel to Hagon in Essex who were able to straighten it for £50. If the wheel is severely buckled it may be a good idea to get a set of stainless spokes from Motorworks, which are to be tightened in the traditional manner, rather than the torque up system used by the factory.
Hope this is of some use.
