Would like a bit more oomph out of my standard 09
. Anyone got any hard facts about 1. De-cating. 2. After Market exhaust. 3. Power commander.
Don't get me wrong I don't want more top end but more low end grunt. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Stop it now... ;)

The 1200 boxer has oodles of torque as standard just don't over rev and feel the force. :D

However a free flowing catless system makes a small difference. Have Remus headers and an Ackro pipe on mine (56 reg). Unless you can weld it's gonna cost you otherwise. Don't know about a power commander but others will.

:)

Expensive, but everyone should have a hobby:

Remus decat headers
Akrapovic can
K&N Air Filter
Iridium plugs
Wunderlich Performance Controller

As fitted to my '08. Goes like stink right across the rev range. Nice noise to:beerjug:

think about it

Hi there, sounds a great idea - persoanlly I have left mine as standard but the experience of a friend might be worth considering. He purchased everything he could, top gear including a power commander and YES a noticeable increase in performance. BUT after the novelty had worn off he took it all off because following disclosure to the insurance company his premiums went through the roof.

Non disclosure of performance enhancing gear is very risky........

OMHO if you want a faster bike buy an R1

Please think carefully before you make your decision mate

Mark speaks with wisdom. Some things you will get away with like an exhaust change but putting a PC on is going to hurt the insurance. You could go the remap route instead which apparently can be done now. Very little chance of the insurance finding out and might actually be a better job than a PC anyway. You could also swap out some engine parts from some of the higher powered cousins as well but its going to get expensive in a hurry.

Putting some miles on a boxer lump make a big difference to tractability and mid-range.
They don't really get to their best until 15,000 miles and I was stil noticeing improvements at up to 25,000 miles.

Having said that I made a very big, worthwhile (IMHO) improvement to the mid-range by fitting a full BOS system (ditching the CAT is the important bit) and fitting a Wunerlich fuel controller. It also now has a power kick at 5,200revs which is highly addictive with the throttle on the stops :)
