I started the bike today to set off for work , engine started fine , then died after around 5 seconds. Tried to start again but no joy . I turned the engine , left for a few seconds , then turned it on again . It started fine again then lost power after a few seconds and died again . Is this a symptom of the dreaded fuel pump failiure ?
When the engine was briefly running i opened the throttle slightly and it immediately died .
Any info much appreciated

Yep Sounds Like it there is a "workaround" that you can use to verify that it is the controller but I've lost all my bookmarks when the puter crashed and burned

Have read several similar threads and it would appear that the fuel pump relay is to blame , the bike is under warranty til november , any ideas on how long it will take BMW assist to turn out , do they routinely carry the parts to fix this , i'm assuming most of their work will be fuel pump related .

If you started it on the center stand was the back wheel turning? Had exactly the same problem on my first bike a few years ago. Stick your foot on the back wheel to stop it turning and try again.

Does anyone have the number for BMW assist handy , left the key at home with the bike and don't have the number written down anywhere

cheers mate , they're coming tomorrow , bloke on the phone reckons they'll sort it there and then , roll on the weekend

Hi keff

Hi Keff,

I'm the guy that pulled up on the F800GS this evening as you were pulling out of your drive. I realise this is not on topic but you are not subscribed yet :augie
so I can't send you a private message (PM)

The monthly North West meet's are the last Tuesday of each month at the windmill pub (M6 / A556 Intersection)

Who'd have thought I'd meet a fellow UKGSER (with stickers) not 60 seconds from home. :aidan
