The lovely Amanda has decided she may want to go on a ride on a C90 that will require her to have a full licence............... :blast

I'm so out of touch with what the current test involves; am I correct in thinking that she will need to doing her theory, then a car park test then a road test and that she can use a C90 to do all of that on (she has a full car licence) :nenau

Check what's on her licence first, it needs to have category A.

Then a CBT, after that she can ride on L plates for 2 years before doing another cbt if she hasn't passed her test.

Taking her test on a C90 will still leave her restricted to an A1 licence as 75cc to 125cc (max 11kw 14.6bhp) needs to have reliable evidence of a top speed of a min of 62mph.

If it was of the correct category (which it isn't) would leave her restricted to 33bhp for 2 years after which she can ride anything.

So, no real point in taking a test on a C90.

So, she doesn't need to have a full m/c licence nor theory, just her cbt (DL196 which validates category A) to ride the C90 :thumb

Cheers :)

She has no intention of wanting to ride anything other than a C90 but is thinking of doing a wee trip on it that involves ridding abroad :thumb

Sooooo...........just to summarise, and 'cos I'm a bit dim;

If she takes her test on a C90 and then decides at a later date that she wants a bike she can never ride anything bigger than a 125 on her full licence :nenau

That's right.
There's two types of full m/c licence

1. Sub Category A1 entitles up to 125cc, max bhp 14.6 (Taking her test on a C90 will give this entitlement).

2. Category A which is a full licence either directly or via a 2 yrs qualifying period if the test was done a bike between 121 and 125 cc with max speed of 62mph
