There are one-wheeled trailers manufactured by UNIGO by USA on www.uni-go.com

I wonder if any of you have ever carried a medium sized dog of some 20kg weight by motor bike. :nenau

It may be possible with a typical two-wheeled trailer but I don't like its restrictions on road handling and freedom. A trailer from Uni-go seems ideal as you can ride your bike as you always do; it can tilt with the bike at bends. I wonder if somebody has ever carried a dog on this Uni-go trailer if it has been modified to accommodate the dog. Perhaps with a glass domed top with vents for a furry friend :teddy to enjoy viewing!!!

Another thing, is it legal to do so on UK roads? :thumb or :nono or

Legal, yes :thumb2
Friend carries his Lurchers in a trailer.
The one wheel trailer is fine, narrower than fat ass panniers, BUT you are still restricted to 60 mph MAX in the UK.....
All trailers no matter how many wheels, suffer that legal requirement :(
I have seen a Border collie in one, with a type of aeroscreen fitted [not big enough to let the dog escape, but ample for fresh air etc :)]

Proff, thanks for your email. Positive news for me as long as I can keep away from the misery of cars! :bounce1 Also I can take my dog out for camping/walks on the hills on my favourite bike or a ride out day with my wife AND dog!

Now, the question is getting a suitable one-wheeled trailer as such for my R12GSA. You said you saw a guy with a border collie in one, was it a one-wheeled trailer? Uni-go product?

Guys, any further info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)

What about the exhaust fumes? The trailer is mounted directly behiond the exhaust(s) and the dog's head is at about the right height to breathe in the fumes....?

Just asking.

I don't think it would do the dogs ears any good to go faster than 60mph so I don't see the speed limit as an issue. Do they do ear plugs for dogs as well???

How's about take the flippin car..... :rob

I was out on a run with the 'bigtrailbike club' about 3 years ago with a chap who had a dog in a well contructed doggie 'top box' contraption. The dog had travelled all over with it's owner in this thing and seemed to love being in it. It had a run around at the lunchtime stop and was a gr8 dog. All was well until the afternoon when the catch worked loose , the dog jumped out at 50+ mph and for all I know right now is dead. All I know is the bloke took it to the nearest vet for treatment and I never heard any more.

Do you REALLY have to take you dog on your bike, it is very disturbing when it goes wrong, and it clearly does.:thedummy

Marcus.

Dirk (Maverick) and Michelle take their pooch out regularly in his DNPR combo.......the dog seems to love it.

He used to take it around in a pannier as well.....never saw it though :)

Sad, but isn't that just a bit like saying you shouldn't take any pillion because they come off occasionally??
