Thanks so much for the offer but it has just gone to the dealer to be (hopefully) fixed. If I'd read your post first I'd prob have taken you up on the offer

Just an update on the prob - the dealer (Rainbow 
) have sorted it. It was a fault with the immobiliser apparently. The alarm seemed to set/unset as normal but one circuit on the immobiliser was faulty and it was connected to the fuel pump.
Anyway, picked it up yesterday and went for a run to the Lakes today and did Wrynose Pass and Harknott Pass
- my first time. I figured that as long as I made it to the top, if it broke again I could always coast down
