I'd say is it coz I'm white?

You wouldn't dare ask a muslim woman to remove her face mask now would you?

thats a fair pint,

come to think of it i've never seen a Muslim lady wearing a mask in a petrol station:nenau

oh i wear a flip top lid on the BMW, and a motocross lid on the dirt bikes.
like my first post the ratio is about 50/ 50 wheather i take it off or leave it on:)

I don't take off my helmet for the following reasons:-
I've nowhere to put it while I fumble for my wallet after filling the bike.
Removing my earplugs means that they don't go back in properly.
If someone is paranoid about fuel theft then I've got a unique number on the back of the motorcycle (and I don't wear a voluminous skirt like the thieves in my local supermarket).

I refuse to remove my lid. Filled up once on way home in a station I use often. I was asked to remove it. I refused. Was asked again, I slapped money on the counter and told the cashier to accept my money. I was then told to remove my lid. That did it . I called the bike cop in from outside who told the cashier to accept payment and I was not breaking any law. I then delivered a barrage of "how dare you, who do you think you are, just cos I ride a bike & have tattoos I must be a criminal eh ? etc etc... I then insulted him by calling him a car driver.(which went over his head) That was the only time I ever bothered to write and complain to a head office. Still waiting for the reply. Not been asked since tho. Makes me

FLIP UP...................:Motomartin

I normally take my helmet off. It is a pain if I'm wearing my glasses, as you have to take them off, put them somewhere safe (where you can find them :mmmm) then put them back on, etc, etc.
The one and only time I have ever been asked to take my helmet off was whilst wearing a flip-up lid, open! :blast
Yes, it is discrimination, but lifes too short.

...I've nowhere to put it while I fumble for my wallet after filling the bike...

I remember one time (at bandcamp - sorry, I mean a local petrol station) being shouted at to remove my crash helmet before the cashier would take my money. It was absolutely pouring with rain and I was wetter than a wet dog that had been thrown in the local canal. I took great delight in putting my soaking wet gloves and crash helmet on of pile of newspapers whilst I slowly removed my headover and ear plugs. By the time I had paid and then slowly replaced my ear plugs, headover, helmet and gloves the newspapers were saturated.

Childish....possibly....amusing....totally :D

Ah see, this is another good reason for living on the Isle of Man, it's not all about tax avoidance you know! :augie.

In all my years as a biker, I have never been asked or even told to remove my helmet when buying petrol on the Island, and to be honest, I don't know of any mates who have either. Now, going in to a bank with my lid on is a different matter :eek

Ditto...We are all honest here on the island...apart from the bad ones I lock up....Bugger....all it takes in the other world is a polite sign for eg. "IT IS OUR POLICY TO ASK MOTORCYCLISTS TO KINDLY REMOVE THEIR HELMETS BEFORE PURCHASING FUEL AND ENTERING THE SHOP. THANK YOU." and display these at the pump, then if you don't want to take you hat off you can take off and find another station.....:nenau:nenau
