Had the pleasure of running into Taff's brother this afternoon, that's PC Taff of the Gwent contsabulary Bike section.

He was located on the A40 about 5 miles West of Abergavenny and stopping every motorcycle travelling East for a general chat. Nothing heavy handed or desiged to intimidate.

Basically due to the 43 road deaths in Wales last year the Welsh Assembly government have decided that if the death rate contiues at its current rate then heavy handed (Overkill) enforcement will ensue.

So basically Taff's brother was promoting the Bikesafe incentive and encourageing bikers to attend and asked if I would post on this web-site a link to the BikeSafe site for any members that might be interested in attending.

He also mentioned a discount for UKGS'er member's.

Here's the link http://www.bikesafe.co.uk/Bikesafe/Bikesafe2000/wales/gwent.html

Be good :D

We are getting the Bikesafe scheme free in certain counties here in the North, I attended the Colwyn Bay one last weekend, well worth it, no matter your level of experience you will learn something new, and there are biscuits too:thumb

Hi Stewart,

Is Brunstum actually paying for it or are the local coppers giving their own free time up.

No biscuits I'm afraid only Welsh cakes. :D

Its being paid for by the local authorities, if you are a council tax payer then show em your postcode and bobs yer mothers brother, If the South Wales councils arent doing it yet shame em by telling them that the Gogs got there first, we didnt get to meet Brainstorm but we did see the scaffoding he used to break into his office.

If you go along to one of the Bikesafe days in Abergavenny then you can get a free observed ride from pold.

I went along last weekend and they were having a very slow day. It's likely to get more popular as the weather gets warmer. You can prebook an observed ride by phone. Get the number by following the link in PW's post above
