Ferry, Portsmouth to Bilbao booked for 30th Oct, then we are going to take 4 or 5 days to ride down to Estapona, just south of Malaga.
We arrive in Bilbao about 13.00, and the plan is to spend the first night in or around Potes in the Picos. From there head southish.

Anyone with ideas of places to visit / stay (B&B or Hotels) between Potes and Malaga. The 'boss' is into 'spiritual / natural' things. I'm just along for a good ride.

Thanks.

Try to avoid central Spain if you have the time, it is very flat and boring south of Madrid. When you get to Estepona and fancy a ride in the mountains head for Gaucin and then to Algatocin and head down into the Genal Vally its a fantastic ride out with lots of sleepy white villages to see, I'm sure you will both enjoy it. p.s. I'm going up there today I just love it, it's like going back 50 years in time. :thumb2

Hitting the Vina Real Crrianza 2009, just pointed at the Landlords bottle under the bar, anyway, I left the Port of Santander at about 4.30 straight on to the N 632 if you are able to ever ride this road forget the PICOS.

Santander to Burgos has got to be the greatest motorcycle road in the World and Im on a bloody 2 stroke 35 year old Spanish bike, that must have been passed today by 300 1200cc GS BMWs.

Anyhow all locked up in the poshest hotel I could find 2 star ** £40 euro and £11 euro for the garage, Im in the town I wanted to be in and at about the right time 5.30pm

I am a day ahead of my self but now I hit the C Roads theres a long stretch if you look on the map of SPAIN, thats it go and find it,

FROM HERE Avila take the N502 all the way down,

When you get to Estepona and have settled in then head up to Ronda via San Pedro de Alcantara. Then go to Zahara de la Sierra. It's a lovely village and worth walking around. Then head across to Grazalema and have lunch before heading back to Estepona. . . . . . . . The roads are fantastic.

Thanks dude - you've just given us the perfect morning Itinerary for a drive and have lunch. I'm also scouting out cycle routes and so far have suffered up the climbs to Ronda and then Jubrique where La Vuelta passed by last month. Hard going but i made it :eek

Toledo (about 50 miles south of Madrid) is an interesting visit as is The Alhambra Palace and gardens in Granada.

The aqueduct in Segovia is worth a detour depending on how close you are.
