It's a Tour Glide Classic (I used to have a TG with all the boxes and this one's much prettier I reckon). Imported from Holland by the current owner and sounds pretty well looked after. 1985 on a B plate. The owner's re-powder coated the frame, and replaced and repainted the front guard, fitted a solid rear wheel and replaced the belt drive with a chain (he's happier with chains than belts). Got a 5 speed gearbox, screen, backrest and rack, fibreglass panniers, engine bars and driving lamps. M.O.Ted til Dec. 09 and taxed til Nov. 09

47k miles on the clock.

What would you reckon, price wise? :nenau

Dont know price wise but thats a lovely looking bike for sure:thumb2

The anwser is what sombody else will pay.
As a general rule any 1340 in running order, will go for about 3-4, thats a base figure, as basket cases they still fetch 2k. It looks in good nick, although the tank trim bits are missing. that would have gone for between 5 and 6, but not sure what's happened with prices in the current climate.

£5.3 sounds good as the pictures look sweet. :thumb2

Not sure about the chain drive conversion (why would you do that when access is so difficult on a bagger?).:nenau

The deciding factor for me would be how it runs :)

Cost

Cheers chaps - it's up at £5.3, so doesn't sound too bad... Tempted, sorely tempted. :D

.see if you can tempt him to do a deal for £5k ......... even a bit less if you turn up with the readies ........

Nice looking machine , I'll be round to have a look if you get it :thumb:thumb:thumb

I would try an bargain down to 5 if you can.

Take a test ride, and see what the cruising speed is like, most people don't realise that there are different ratios for US bikes and Euro ones, you want to make sure that the ratios are right for motorway speeds.

To be honest most people that do the chain conversion don't do it because they prefer chains is because they prefer the cost, a chain and sprocket kit comes in round about 100-120 but a belt and pulleys is over 400 last time I did it and that was a while ago, however the belt is the better belt, unless they get damaged they last a very long time, my wife has over 50,000 miles on the same belt and pulleys, and we only changed the last one as it got damaged not wore out. You will be lucky to get 10,000 out of a chain.

Other than that it looks nice at a reasonable price.

The bike has single pot brakes - seriously they are crap on a heavy dude like that - you may want to price-in a Harrison Billet set for the front.

Thanks again - I did wonder about that belt conversion. My previous HD's belt was absolutely fine and a lot less bovver than a chain.

Converting it to chain drive is a backward step IMO and should reflect in the price. I wouldn't offer any more than £4000. Then again I'm after a 2010 FXDWG so I wouldn't be interested anyway :D

Forget Harrison, they are rubbish. They have the name but don't deliver.
Each calliper has 6 individual pads they are very expensive to replace, and difficult to find everywhere, and each piston has only very rudimentary seal system and they suffer from sticking badly if allowed to get dirty (although to be fair that is the early ones) they are also eye watering expensive.
I would recommend pretech they made in Reading, they make them for every model of Harley, as I recall they are about £200 a side for the 6 piston caliper, very very high quality and they use the same pads as 1200 triumph/Exup's and a number of others, easy to find almost anywhere easy to fit and relatively cheap.
Give you some idea for two sets of pads for my Pretechs on my wifes Harley £20, for both the calipers on my sons ZZR which has 6 pot Harrisons its £60 and both those prices are trade. When I had a Harley with 6 pots I used to reckon that I saved over £150 a year with the Pretech over the Harrisons probably more, I was changing pads at about 2000 miles on the front (lots of town driving and front brake) and I did 1000 a month so cost of pads was a real issue. Its worth thinking about.

Hmm. So, new front brakes (remember the 'fear assisted' ones from my last Tour Glide bagger) and a belt drive conversion. AND in Lincolnshire (I'm in West Oxon).

Wonder if I wouldn't be better waiting for another one a little more locally with less to do.

It will be fine as is, mine is still on the original harley brakes and I have had it 3 years an not actualy done the chain conversion, but they are points to bargin with
