I have planned all my routes for this years trip to the Picos and then back up thro France , but there is one area im not to sure about as have done many routes around this area but have a choice of two.
Starting from La Seu D'Urgell we are heading to Millau , one option is to follow the NA 145 thro Andorra then CG2 then the N22 to Ax Les Therms then the D613 to Quillan (after here route sorted) , looks a good road but may be too major.
The other is to follow the good old N260 thro to Puigcerda then the D618 to Mont Louis then the D118 to Quillan this looks more of rural .
Anyone ridden these road and wiling to share advice.

Thanks :nenau

thats a long day in the saddle. From where you are to where your going any of the routes will be a good un, Andorra is smelly and busy with congestion but once through the Border town opens up to some nice roads and may be more direct.
If your in La Seu D'Urgell and I'm not sure of the way you arrive but-----you must do this route from Temp to La Seu D'Urgell, :bounce1:bounce1
Tremp C-1412b to Isona onto the L-511 follow that to Coll De Nargo onto the L-401 to the Coll de Jou pick up the LV-4241b Berga from there you pick up the C16 up to the N260turn lft and onto La Seu D'Urgell. That little road from Tremp to Berga (after about 15 miles) is a beuty, you WILL be begging for a straight piece of Tarmac by the time you get too Sant Llorenc de Morunys, which is the first major town/village that is full of bikers and coffee shops/bars have a rest and crack on for more of the same to Berga

I did both those routes this year there and back to Motorland Aragon GP.

Both are ok, D613 the better I think although I did divert to Montegur (castle) and Mirepoix via back roads.

I try to avoid any N roads but through the Pyrennes is sometimes unavoidable. I will even try to avoid D roads if I can cut across country.

On the way out of Andorra come of the CG-2 at the roundabout a few miles past Soldeu and take the old road up to Pas De La Casa, the road is fantastic with spectacular views. The D613 to Quillan is also a fantastic road and worth doing.

If you have the time Montsegur and Mirepoix are both worth a visit.

Have good trip.

Thanks

Thanks for all your tips - looking again at the maps and will take all on board.

The Ax led Thermes to Quillan road is a nice route. I rode back that way a few years ago.

(Based on a fairly small selection group, though, it does make Ducati ST4Ss play up a bit - running on one cylinder, very fast idle and so on. Apart from that, though, a nice enough route. :D)

Andorra is always a chore, but the road down to Ax is fun. Take a stop in Ax to marvel at the weak and the lame taking the waters. You can even dip your feet in the hot spring yourself. It is bloody hot, though! Ax has a selectionfo restaurants and is a fine lunch destination.

It is a fair ride in a day (depending on how you're planning to get from Quillan to Millau) but doable. If you fancy a little detour near Millau, have a look at the Cirque de Navacelles, a limestoen gorge with a tight meander in it, gorge with the town of Saint Maurice de Navacelles down in it. It's about 40 miles south east of Millau. Quite a steep and tricky road down and back, though, with the possibility of tourist coaches coming straight for you just to heighten the concentration!

Hope you have a good scale map, as its a small road,:bounce1 with a surface like a pool table.

BTW we stayed here just outside Tremp. Petrol about 1 mile away http://www.casalola.info/indexeng.html. Took ages to reply to booking emails mind, but nice place and resturant aswell!

Thanks have worked the route on 250 miles which is as you say doable (two up full luggage )- next one is the 300+ to Poitiers from Millau ( all D roads Puy mary etc) done it before long but great route :)

Hi, I have a house down there. just outside of quillan. There is a great rourte from Andorra to Millau, missing most of the major roads. I'll dig out the details and post over the weekend.

Activemct, as a newcomer to the board, you may not have appreciated the rules, but ANY mention of ownership of a property somewhere desirable means you have to make it available, free, upon demand, to anyone with more than 7,500 posts.

And if they have more than 8,925, you have to stock it with beer too.

:D

Tremp C-1412b to Isona onto the L-511

:agree
But did you ever try the C-1311 to Tremp ?
Starts at the N230 and 25 stunning kilometers later finishes at the C-13, just a km from the start of the C-1412. Rode it 2 years ago and it had an amazingly grippy surface, perfect bends & feck all traffic :bounce1 Rode it last year & they were resurfacing it but it doesn't appear to have affected the grip, just made it smoother :D
Try it, you'll love it :JB

From Ax-L-T, take the D613 towards Quillan, but after a km orso, take a right on to the D25. A great mountainroad going over the Port de Pailhères.
Once back in the valley, follow the D118 towards Axat.

The mountain road is really great, narrow but fun to ride, and the D118 goes to Axat through a narrow gorge, stunning ride as well.

Grtz, Philip!
