Hello all,
I've ordered ( waiting patiently) my R1200GS TE. I'm putting together a list of items that are must have bolt-ons and your advice is greatly appreciated.
Items such as cylinder head protectors, rear mudguards, gadgets, gizmos and everything in between!

Cheers,
Bob of BeemerLand :bow

Wapping will be along shortly to put you right !

I tried not to put too much touratwat stuff on....it's all extra weight....all i put on mine is....
Lockable Garmin 550 satnav cage from touratwat
Engine bars, came with the bike but maybe cylinder head protectors might be better ?
Engine protector behind the front wheel to stop stones pitting the engine casing...didn't put a fender extender on as well...no point
Radiator guards....but i think even those are optional now really.
That's it....

Collected my GSA TE 2 weeks ago, so far I've fitted :
Mudsling front & rear
Cameltoe
Touratech Headlight guard (that thing looks expensive !!!)

Awaiting delivery of :
Touratech radiator guards
Puig touring screen
Cymarc screen strengthening brackets
Cymarc stainless front lower screen deflector

and to be honest I think that's all I will be buying for it, but then the GSA comes with the engine bars & head protectors as standard

Many a mile will be put on her, you can be sure of that!

It depends if you want to keep the bike looking good, or whether you'll turn it into a ratty old turd, like those smelly 1150 owners.:P

I've gone for front and rear mudslings, radiator guards and a cameltoe, as the main items, and have tried to refrain from putting pointless crap on this one.:thumb

Some form of cylinder head guards(Touratech on mine), you will at some point drop it at a stand still, most have.

Seems like you might have to put a clock guard on it the amount of clocks being stolen!

Yep, dropped my 2004 1150 GSA whilst aquaplaning on the A9 in Inverness. So I know all about grinding the bollocks out of the cylinder heads.
Cylinder head guards & clock thingy guard added to the list.

Old Nippy Norm will be closing early if I carry on at this rate! My wish list on his website is expanding by the day.

Cheers for the input!

I am ordering a new GS (YEAH!!!!), and have been down the road before where I piled on all kinds of accessories, paid and overpaid for them, and would prefer not to do that again! That said, I want good stuff, but at good prices.

So, the bike will be a standard GS, with these accessories factory installed:

Option Description
Bike R1200GS
Color ND2 Black Storm Metalic
Special Package ZPS Standard Package
191 Dynamic ESA
519 Heated Grips
538 Cruise Control
589 Hand Protection
681 Saddle Bag Mounts
Added Options
350 GPS Prep
530 Tire Pressure Monitor
GPS

A few things I think I will want are:

Cylinder protection, lower only. Crash bars or cylinder guards.
Big foot for the sidestand.
Light bar, I will be transferring my Kristas.
Saddle bag mounts, bar style, I will keep my current bags.
Headlight protection.
Seat (maybe, the stock felt good for an hour, but we will see).
Additional rear lighting brakes and running.

I am also open to other accessories/protection, but at a reasonable cost. No need to throw money needlessly at the new bike just because it is new. I do not plan much off road, so serious protection is likely unnecessary.

Thanks,

Jim
