black engine on f650gs?

As BMW never did a black engine, it must be a DIY job. Makes you wonder why.
Hi Wilburs,I thought it wasnt an option.
but thought i would check.
if thats the case,i suppose the dealer selling it thinks it is rare
perhaps when the original paint startedto peel off,they decided to change the engine colour.

There are some 'service' F650GS's with black engine casings around, from the factory, and very smart and tough they are too. Saw one with a single spotlight integral with the front mudguard, heavy duty pannier frames etc.

And now the Danish army is selling most of them cheap on auctions. Some of them had never been ridden. As far as I know their reason for selling them was some sort of miscalculation of how many they needed
Makes you sad to pay +40% taxes of your incom to that sort of system 
I heard that an austrian company (CC-something??) produced the fenders with light and the luggage kit. Made exlusively for the Danish army who never used it anyway - but I guess they got it cheap

As most of the paint is peeling from my 650 perhaps I'll get it painted black when I get time to pull it all apart!
Probably up the value by at least a tenner!
