Just had the bike in for the 600 mile service ...all was well with the bike and after the service it seemed like it was going to stall when the bike is left on tick over... the rec counter shows just over 1000 rpm.
Having taken it out over the weekend ..on a 200 round trip i noticed black soot staining on the inside of the aluminium box next to can on the back of the bike...it wipes off ok but have not noticed it before..any view or is this normal

Your bike is burning a fossil fuel, ie, petrol. The result of this is H2O, CO, CO2 and C all come out in the exhaust gases. Newer bikes also burn a bit more oil than a worn-in engine, so this is all adding to your deposites....... don't worry, it's natural from an IC Engine.

Just normal, after a few thousand miles the entire lhs rear section of the rack will be a silky black finish. I suppose the faster you go the more air will flow and the deposits will be less. Just try explaining that to the beak..

Yes, normal, the aluminum shield on the inside of my left plastic BMW pannier also goes black with soot. Easy to remove, though.

Nothing like that on mine ,but did run a bit rough following service, disconnected battery overnight then did tps reset and that sorted it out,the prices they charge for a service you would expect it to be first rate but maybe i'm old fashioned:rob
