I was going to change the brake fluid today but when I went to bleed the fluid out of the back brake, as I loosened the nipple it came off in my hands (honest officer).

I'm guessing you can order the outer piece and a new nipple for the brake. Is there any advantage of this secondary insert as I've not had one on any other bike in the past.

Oh and has anyone used eazibleed nipples, are they of any advantage?

Thank you very much, was just off looking for those.

Interesting that it says the adapter isn't available from BMW. I wonder why that is.

Adapter is called a nipple holder. The nipple is available from bmw but not the holder. They expect you to drill out the old nipple or buy a new caliper.

When you remove the original "holder", you'll need to remove the small "O" ring above the thread to fit to your new stainless holder :thumb

Just a guess, but it's probably a bog standard universal part......the BMW ones just come in a nice logo'd placcy bacg with a 125% price premium :)

Nice one, thanks Neil.

so long as the nipple is not leaking fluid just use one of these

it replaces the banjo bolt and allows you to bleed through the bolt, its a whole hell of a lot easier than taking the remains of the the bleed nipple out.

Where can you get those?
And what is the price?
It's quite easy to take the nipple holder out and install Chris Shaw parts instead.
And the price is not high. £14.95 plus delivery.
I have one set in my bike from Chris Shaw

BUMW don't even acknowledge it's existence on their fiche. I did the same as you and ended up removing the caliper from it's mounting points, wrapping it in rag and bleeding by undoing the non-existant hex head plug as I pressed the brake lever and then closing said non-existant hex head plug prior to releasing the brake lever. Worked a treat as a stop gap but now I know where to get the bits. Thanks Jaythro:thumb2

anywhere that stocks aeroquip type hosing, that particular picture is from venhills, and the last time I bought one which was last year about £5 or so.

Sherlocks has them, cheaper than motoworks. As I was buying some other bits I got them all in one go. Plus Sherlocks has my card details on file, which is useful but could lead to me ordering lots of things ;)

Can't use that on the rear caliper :D

Has the law on that changed? I thought that it was illegal to retain credit card details on file in the UK.

I'm not sure. They've had it for a couple of years and I've never had a problem with them. They do ask me for my security code each time, so it might be that they only keep the number.

Amazon has my card details on file for their 1-click ordering, so I'm guessing it's not illegal.
