bleeps a few times & me tabs go (2610)

Just Had a trip over to Holland & on the way back every now & then for no apparent reason that I could see it would bleep three times then maybe a mile or so further again after about the third time the tabs with all the infromation disappear if I press page once they would reapear but not necessarily for long before starting bleeping again .
The route was still there also I noticed the white curser would appear after about the third lot of bleeps before the tab information went.

It's my second 2610 buggered if I can think of any settings that would cause it any body any ideas .

It's only it's second trip out & on Mapsource 9 .

I wondered about restoring it's default settings unless somebody has any ideas

Mine behaves in a similar way when on the bike (but never in the car). I think it is connected with the sun shining on the screen. Seems that causes the screen to expand and to act as if it has been touched. Pressing the Page key cures it. Doesn't seem to occur when travelling South or when weather is overcast.

Had this once and it was a small bit of dirt in the corner of the screen. As the screen is touch sensitive you need to make sure it's cleaned well, even right in the corners.

thanks for your comments guys but this is my second 2610 the other was never really a problem on the bike even in the sun.
It's the bleeping what's causing that and for the white curser to appear

Have you tried covering the IR sensor on the left with some tape to see if it stops?

Nope haven't tried anything but doesn't it need that for satalite reception. Besides why on this unit & not my other one I have heard the bleeps occassionally on my old one I think but nothing like as regular as what this was doing.
What are the bleeps any idea always a series of three

Rang Garmin today freephone the guy advised loading latest updates to cure it so did it & fingers crossed

Sorry guys you'll have to be a little more specific.
I'll just repeat the problem last weekend on my way back to Calais it would bleep quickly three times pip pip pip then maybe half a mile further up the road same again now after about the third or fourth time of the three bleeps the white curser appears then the information tabs disapear one press on page brings them back.

Now isn't the ir sensor where it picks up the satelite signal like I say I'm in the dark here & as for turning off the IR sensor in the menue well just looked for it cant see it any more info would be appreciated.

Now don't get me wrong but what am I achieving by covering or turning it off what's it do exactly .

OK sussed it the IR is for the infa red remote but why would it cause my problem & is it a common one .Still can't see where you turn off in menue though

Sunlight directly into the IR sensor can activate it.

Satelite signals are picked up by an internal aerial not the ir sensor

To turn the ir sensor off, press Menu, selsect options and then press menu again, where a different menu will pop up. At the top is disable remote, press it and it switches the ir sensor off
