Bloody 'ell I'm cold

Myself and the lady wife went for a toodle round today and got bloody cold.
Then spent rest of the day cleaning salt off the bike.

Anyways can anybody recomend some thermals that work, preferably with a polo neck

I was in Debenhams and bought some long sleeved polo neck golfing tops , there lovely and warm and were in the sale

I think they were branded as Maine and cost £4.99

I bought the BMW phase change stuff, I used under my rallye suit and now under my Rukka stuff. I do a 100 mile round trip, it has done me proud and made a big difference. It does look expensive at a first glance, but, compared to other branded stuff of similar design it's still the cheapest

Steptoe has a kit sewn into some leggings and a top......I've just got one sewn into a fleece waistcoat.....ten times better than the old BMW waistcoat I wasted money on and 8 times cheaper

The best bit is that 'cos you do it yourself, you can add it to any item of clothing you want, whether it's an existing inner lining or a fleece top or whatever.....and you can concentrate the heat anywhere you like so if you have a long back (like me) you can put a few extra feet of the wire there.

I also put a double loop around the collar of my flece waistcoat to keep the neck warm

Thoroughly recomended and at that price, you don't have much to lose

Hand........I just poked it into the lining on a needle (they supply it in the kit) ran it along inside a bit, came out of the lining for a cm or so to anchor it then went back in....rinse and repeat until you've got all 33 feet in!!!

It was a piece of pish....the hardest part TBH Was dealing with 33 feet of wire at my feet but it's slippery stuff (platic coated) so it didn't tangle up.

You start at where you're going to have the connection to the heavy cable that plugs into the bike ( I started inside a pocketof the fleece so I can wind the cable and plug around my hand and tuck it away in the pocket when I'm off the bike ), go around and around the garment anywhere you want heat and bring the end back to exit at the same place you began.....easy

The first time it took an hour, but I reckon I could do another one in 20 mins flat

If you can use a 'normal' heated waistcoat on a 1200, you should be ableto use this...it's just a kit to make one yourself, nothing special.

There have been widely reported probs with the 1200 system shutting down after a while in use, but I believe this has been fixed by a software update...I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work, but I don't have a 1200

should be ok on the canbus accessory socket, as long as it draws under 7amp.

Amps = Watts/Volts so that would be 55/12= 4.6(ish) Amps

try Cold Killers...glove inserts,slip on bootys,leggins and coat. I bought the bootys on saturday and wore em sunday for a cold ride and i have never had my tootsies so toasty warm....ohhhh there so super and great.
Got mine from three cross motorcycles.

Hi Ed,
Having spent many winters in northern Norway (outdoors I hasten to add) and riding the bike through British winters I suggest going to your local Army Surplus/internet site and asking for a set of artic thermals (Vest and long johns) plus arctic socks and a Norwegian shirt (fleecy type polo shirt). If you really really suffer from the cold then there is the ho chi min suit, quilted top and bottom plus booties. However if you have it all on and don’t overheat you should see your doctor immediately to check your normal blood temperature because you may possibly be dead.
