I walked into Arpora this morning, and came across an R.E dealer. What a place .
It turns out it’s the only R.E owned dealer in India, imagine a glitzy BMW dealer, then remove the attitude, so it becomes about the bikes. Fabulous.
There was dozens of them including several ‘specials’ such as the 350 with a chair which is to show what can be done with paint.
It does seem that the bikes built for the domestic market are significantly cheaper, yet built to a better spec than ours. In particular was a 650 meteor in cherry red metallic, with an unpainted engine, but highly polished lower engine covers. It also had fully adjustable rear shockers with remote reservoir.
In the main most of them have that essential item of motorcycle equipment………the Saree guard
( see the blue bike picture)
I spent about an hour talking to the staff, and they all seemed proud of their product.
I then went into the adjoining cafe ( part of the dealership) and had a lovely coffee and biscuits, again it had some nice bike focussed touches, such as the parachuting bike.
I did think having 27 bottles of whisky on the shelves tends to send the wrong message though
The day went downhill from there, drinking beer on the beach AND having a fitting for some hand made silk shirts. It’s amazing what you’ll do when inebriated
