The Blue Light off road club are hosting another open day at the Bagshot military driving training area.

details here: http://bluelightoffroadclub.co.uk/

I may be there on the 1150 (blue/white) on Sunday morning - if not on the bike, I'll definitely be there on foot with my young lads so if you're going, tell me what bike you'll be on and we'll give you a cheer. :beerjug:

That's at the end of my road. I may take a walk over.:thumb

What a laugh!

If you're in two minds about this, I thoroughly recommend you go.

Miles of tracks, ranging from hard(ish) surface through to mud and hills, enduro trails... the lot.

Looks excellent Paul! :thumb2

Aaah yes, I actually can't describe just how much fun that was.

I only really intended to go for 10 minutes, just to buy a coffee from the snackwagon and watch, and then I found myself registering, sending an 'I may be some time' text home, switching the phone off and getting stuck in.

Just as we have discussed previously, as only an occasional off-roader it's amazing how quickly you gain confidence.

For the first 20 minutes, the 1150 on worn Tourances felt like a Sainsbury's trolley with 2 bags of cement in it. But after that, I was Roger da Costa, hunting down enduro bikes (OK they were tootling along because they were probably a bit lost) but hell, it felt good, and the bike felt lighter and physically smaller with every 30 minutes that passed.

After surviving two hernia-inducing failed hill climbs in the first half hour, after that I was continually amazed just how well this heavy, 100mph-all-day-on-the-autobahn bike shrugged off challenging off-road conditions.

What a bloody laugh! :thumb:thumb

You're correct.

As I understand it, the original plan was for Saturday to be for the 4x4s, then Sunday for the bikes.

Not too many 4x4s pre-registered, so Saturday was changed to a mix of 4x4s and bikes (even though, as it happened, quite a lot of 4x4s did turn up).

Sunday is still the main bike day though.

Hi Paul
I think I must of met you as I was by the event HQ tent when you registered. I had been out in the morning but had to go home. Went back today though for another great day.

Saw a guy complete the Enduro course on his KTM 990 adventure. Good effort on his part. :thumb2

Everybody I spoke to seemed to enjoy it. Roll on the next event.

That's a shame we didn't meet up. Never mind, there will be more occasions I'm sure.

The enduro course would have been a big challenge for a 990 - well done to him.
