Having realised my Autocom needs a bluetooth dongle to talk to the Zumo ( new bike has a Nav 4 bracket with no connectors) I'm now wondering if any bluetooth Dongle with a 3.5mm jack will do the job, or do I HAVE to spend a ridiculous £94 on an Autocom dongle?

Advice very much appreciated :thumb

A2DP will be required if you want music. The Autocom ones do crop up on eBay every now and then. Depending on your model of Autocom and what you want to achieve (just directions, directions and music or directions, music and phone) will steer your choice. The BTM-02A is probably the most complete solution that I believe will achieve all three.

Any BT audio receiver will allow you to hear satnav instructions or music (I use a cheap £14 one with my Starcom). You only need the Autocom one if you want to be able to transmit (talk) via BT too.

Do you have yours bike powered? If so how easy was that to achieve and did you need to buy any extras such as 12v > 5v step-down transformer?

Just connecting music and directions can be easily achieved with hard wiring, though an isolated lead will probably be required to avoid Ground Loop Interference. With both the Zumo lead and Autocom attached to the bike there's no disadvantage to this if all you want is directions and music from the Zumo. You can pick up earlier Autocom Stereo ones off eBay for about £20-£25. I'm currently waiting for a reply from Sam at Chainspeed re. the BTM-02A to replace the current set-up of such a lead and a separate #1273 mono BT dongle that's just to connect the phone.

It's not bike powered (internal battery charged via USB). I only used it because I already had it and it enabled me to use my Starcom I got cheap off eBay without spending a ton.
TBH I don't like any of the Starcom/Autocom setups so will be looking at improving it somehow.
