Just bought a Nav V and fancy listening to directions on tour next summer (but only if I get really lost and can't find my route on my paper maps!) I need a bluetooth earpiece but don't want phone connections, bike to bike, music or anything else. Only GPS info. Any suggestions without having to spend another fortune????

Don't think you will get away with out it beying an intercom unit as the nav v is a2dp

Thanks ZX9man! If that's the case then I'll just use it as an active map when necessary. Finding campsites should also be an aid and I like the idea of an altimeter!

Before I invested in a Sena BT intercom, I used a Sony MP3 player thing (it cost about £30 from memory) and had the ability to pair by BT to a phone. I used that to pair with the Nav V. Worked well

I used various Garmin devices for years without linking up the audio, but there's no doubt that audio is useful to warn you of an upcoming turn if you're blatting happily along a good road. I bought the Cardo Scala Qz, which looked to be the least expensive Bluetooth device available designed for motorcycle use. It works very well, but has features you're not looking for such as phone and music. As an alternative you could look at some of the Bluetooth earpieces sold for phone use - there are plenty of cheap ones around, including some with separate earpieces which would fit under a helmet. Ideally though you'd want to check that the earpiece pairs with the Nav V which might require some trial and error.

Would just get a decent bike Bluetooth headset, lots of info on here do a search. Easy to fit to helmet and charge etc. Designed to work on a bike (in the crap weather) and can pair with sat nav ok. You dont need to use all the features, phone and so on. But you may want to add a pillion or even bike to bike in the future.

Like you I just wanted directions ( and a bit of music) from the Nav V. Ended up with a second hand Sena smh5 off eBay for 60 quid.

Brilliant bit of kit, lasts for ages on a charge and very good volume (even with earplugs in).
Seem to come quite regularly on eBay but not that expensive new.

The basic Scala headsets are quite good for this as you can remove the microphone if you don't need it. We sell QZ or Q1 units for less than £100.
