Hi All,

Just wondering if any of you have any experience with bluetooth headsets? I'm self employed so need to be able to take phonecalls whilst driving. I've found this website offering them for around $150 - http://www.cardowireless.com/scala_rider/ - any thoughts? Just bought a lovely new helmet (should maybe have got a bluetooth one..) so just want the headset.

Thanks all,

Finn

One word: Autocom!

- The best accessory I ever bought for my Dakar before it was stolen (not that I'm bitter at all!)

I`m a total numpty when it comes phones n stuff so I canvassed much opinion when I looked at wiring my phone to the bike. I was steered away from bluetooth by nearly everyone I spoke to and opted for the autocom system which seems to work fine. I recently bought a new helmet and had trouble with the helmet speakers so I bought some earphones (speakers inside earbuds) and I`m happy with the setup.

I bought myself the NOLAN helmet that comes with an N com hole/socket thingy on the side and they have now brought out the blue tooth bits for your phone. However other half and i have just bought autocom advance 1. Only problem we both have sony ericcson phones and unfotunalty although they can see the blue tooth connection we have wont auto anwser or work properly. Borrowed a mates motorla V80 and that works so we are both now having to go out and buy new phones which is a bit of a bummer but new phones were on the cards soon anyway. So a few little things to sort out.

Lots of options are available. If you just need it for the phone, motorola do a pod for the helmet which comes in at around £100 - I don't know if they are any good and which phones they work with...

If you want the extra features of an intercom (rider to pillion, bike to bike chat, GPS, music phone speed camera detector inputs etc) then have a look at the various systems available. Autocom are excellent but expensive, Starcom have a good reputation (not used it personally) and IntaRide is a fantastic system and the best one for my money... They are also launching a new wireless system called Liberty which might suit your needs. It's not out yet but I have one on order :)

Food for thought - hope it helps
