...Greetings lads, 'tis a summer for a 5mm neoprene wetsuit with body armor!
- here's my query, I want to get a bluetooth helmet kit to use with a Zumo 550. The helmet I use most is a schubert C3 flip up. So I suppose is there a unit more suitable for flip up helmets that works well with zumo and allows communication with other bikers? All experiences and suggestions welcome, thanks.

Sena SMH-10 with the mount that has a separate boom Mike.

Works great in my C3,

As for connection to other riders Bluetooth only work to the same device normally, I.e. Sena to Sena, so you'd all need the same kit.

Having said that Sena do a Bluetooth adaptor for radios so that could be another option
Sent from my HTC Desire S

I have the sena smh10 and love it as above will only work with other senas though, you get regular firmware updates as well great bit of kit just been updated to 3.1 Bluetooth.

G4 with extended boom although the standard boom works fine. Also there's the new G9 with better bike to bike capabilities (can connect to a larger number of bikes)

Have a look in the comms section

sena smh5 or smh10

smh5 is perfect for 169 sterling for a pair of them

smh10 has 1km range but its bit bigger and doesnt pack away as neat as sena smh5

smh5 got great reviews for cost and simplicity

Sena is best IMO. Easy to operate with gloves on - plenty volume to play with so you can hear clearly while wearing earplugs.

I have the G4 super connection with Zumo and other bikers, i also have the C3, you have to use the adhesive plate that comes with it, bit of a faf with standard mike boom to close the lid, but no complaints.

if up in laois or kilkenny give me shout can test sena that way see whats like

Thanks for all your helpful advice. The most popular are the SM10/H5 and the Scala G4/G9. It seems a great drawback these units will only communicate with like units I don't know if this is simply a firmware restriction (suspect it is), mabey someone knows these things....? The ideal unit should communicate with all types.
I've looked in the Comms section and on the web (information overload). One interesting set I came across was a Buhel D01 which instead of ear pieces uses the shell of the helmet as a speaker but again it only coms with same units or at least the newer version D02 will.
Thanks for the invite to try yours out John, I do get up to KK occasionally as I am a native of cat country, will get in touch if I am going up.

no worries, if you pair the unit unp with another make should it not connect

must say i like the open comms with sena where can have full conversation and not on and off chat like or a 2-way radio

No it won't, the bluetooth standard doesn't cover long range comms, therefore each manufacturer comes up with their own version = no connection between different brands.

Oh +1 for Sena SMH10, (better range and battery life than SMH5)

Happy with G9. Used with zumo 550 and I like the built in FM radio.

Scala will communicate with the schuberth system (as scala make these).

I've got the interphone F5 which works fine with the Zumo. Pricey but you can connect up to 6 of them together and over 1 mile range :thumb
