Read that at least a couple of people use bluetooth headsets other than the Scala/interphone/ etc
I ahve seen these which clainms to be A2DP and AVRCP which might mean something if I knew what standard the Zumo 500 works on.

This is not to be able to use the phone whilst riding but to get mp3s and navigation instructions relayed to in-ear phones

So my question is:

Will the BT units work with the Zumo 500?,
Anyone doing similar with success - which BT unit are you using?,
Anyone tried similar and failed?

I cast my ignorance across the pond of knowledge that is UKGSers and wait in anticipation.

Hi.
The Zumo 500/550 only have mono bluetooth output (not A2DP which is stereo). Neither is it AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile) which means it can't be controled by the headset. I use my Zumo on my autocom system with bluetooth adaptor. You can use it to listen to music and hear Sat nav but being mono the sound quality is pretty poor so I use a stereo music lead. The Zumo 660 has stero bluetooth output (A2DP) as do most new phones and they give very good sound.

Dave, thanks for the reply, Kudos for replying after all this time!!
Good job I didn't bother with an expensive Scala - mono would have spoilt my whole day!
Might just have to plug the Shures in direct/via extension. I guess the only option is to have a BT adaptor that takes the socket outlets on unit an BTs them towards head!

Thanks again Dave:thumb

Not exactly what you're asking. I use a Sena SMH10 and a zumo 500. I get stereo music via bluetooth from my phone (it could just as easily be an ipod touch), and mono instructions from the zumo.

I'm after getting a sena smh5 which is due out in a couple of weeks, will it pair up with a zumo 500/550, I know the zumo is only mono but can't afford the 660 I also have an iPhone 4 can I listen to my music in stereo if bluetoothed to the sena and also hear the sat nav prompts as well? Any help would be appreciated.
