Has anybody used these cardo scala bluetooth headsets? Is so what are they like? I am looking to buy a set but was wondering if anybody has used them?

Cheers,

Alex ......

I got a full autocom, zumo, bluetooth setup...

But I hear the Scala isn't waterproof (strange for something that lives on the outside of the helmet!)

Gareth.

yes i have the teamset

:roban i think its a fantastic piece of kit, and imho customer service is as good...i have had some probs with my phone dropping but i believe its the phone 6230i not the unit. i mainly use it for music form the zumo
talking to your pillion is good and clear once you get the hang of activating (a click of the tounge) unless in intercom mode when speaker stays open.so far 13500 miles local and europe (an we all know how it can rain in europe an it rains abit here too:aidan) just make sure the rubber is in the charging port.
hope this helps

I also have the Teamset. It works extremely well. Clear to well over 100km/hr. Installation is easy. And requires no wiring on the bike. Even works bike to bike when they are within 10 to 20 metres. Communicates brilliantly with a bluetooth phone. And also with my Pocket PC.

If anyone knows of a bluetooth CB radio I would be interested to give better bike to bike communications.

can you tell me where you but the autocom bluetooth kit from and send any photos to me thanks all

Can't take photo at mo, but you can buy the autocom bluetooth unit from any autocom dealer or direct. There are 2 different units one for 2006 models and one for pre 2006.
It's a box like all their other boxes. 3/4 square by 3 inches long.

ye thanks, never seen or used one are they easy to install and use

We've got the Midland Cardo set and it's fine.

We use it bike to bike and it works OK for about 50 mtrs-any farther and it drops out a bit requiring the 'passenger' unit to be reset with a touch of the button. It pairs easily with the phone and is very clear at legal speeds.

I've been out in very heavy rain for about 4 hours and it still works fine so no problems there.

The only criticism I have with the set up is that there is often a lot of static that gets tiring after a while- apart from that I say it was a good buy.

I've got one because the only output I can get from my mobile is Bluetooth. Don't like it much.

The sound quality is good and the mic is OK but

-It would not fit on my Schueberth C2, BMW System 5 or wife's System 4 without cutting a lump out of the neck skirt.

-It's a pain having to fiddle the mic under the edge of the helmet and get it comfortable every time I put my lid on.

- The mic arm is too short for flip lids

- It's a nuisance having to remember to recharge it

- It's, stupidly, not claimed to be waterproof

- It's easy to catch the mic when carrying the helmet -waiting for it to break off

Other than that it's great!!
