Just got off the bike after getting home from work and noticed that 20 of the 43 teeth on the rear sprocket are, quite literally, absent 
They were there this morning when I checked the bike over, Monday morning stylee....

Shouldn't park outside a dentists.
That's almost halfway to the total number of chain failures reported on this site.
Was your chain too tight? The proper adjustment is surprisingly slack.

I'd like to see a pic of that sprocket. All of the previous problems on here have related to the chain, not the sprockets. BMW had an early recall to modify the rear sprocket nuts, although I'm not aware of any actual failures. Later models had bigger threaded nuts holding the rear sprocket on.

Bumw wouldnt change my chain and sprockets after 4k miles under warranty so I put a Renthal alloy/Tsubaki x-ring combo on.
Bike now at 19.5k miles, so cant complain, knew I needede to do em but was astonished at the speed at which it shat all the teeth, a mere 60 mile round trip commute.....
I'll bung some pics on at some point....

Is that the right sized sprocket?
It doesn't look like there's enough room below the 'valley' of the sprocket to accommodate the chain's side-plate...
Here's mine (shitty I know) but you can see what I mean - where the side plate has rubbed the gack off the sprocket shows how much past the 'valley' bottom the plate will reach ...
