When I say "older airheads" I mean those from 1981 to 1985 when they changed to the solid thrust piston with a small bearing similar to that used in today's thrust piston.

Really?? More like "What is the question"??

Steptoe has answered and I agree they were used on some airheads

Do an Internet search for CLA30961 and CLA84020 then you have an answer

yes theses are for 1150s not for something older than me. so no the my question has not been answered. i wanted to know if any one has had experience with this part or ever seem them for this model bike

I'm not sure what you are on about either......

Are you asking...

Can that slave cyclinder be fitted to the R1150GS.

If so........

I doubt it, the clutch actuator rod is quite thin and looks like it will pass right through the bearing, where as with the correct slave cylinder, the clutch actuating rod is machined down so that it presses against the bearing face as it is supposed to, because the bearing is a thrust bearing.

these are for the 1150. all i wanted to know if any one else has seen them before. as they are not the same as bmw ones

I think the lack of replies is the answer!

Okay I will answer for you, No in 10 years of fixing these bikes I have never needed one

But then again I did regular fluid changes for all my customers based on service history

Bear in mind It is very important to NOT hold clutch lever in at lights or for extended periods as you are just wearing the bearing out and as soon as it gives up the whole piston rotates and the seals die very soon after

And pay attention to the hoses rather than bling like that !

I think what Steptoe and I mean't is that those internal parts of that rebuildable cylinder are parts from the earlier airhead bikes

No. But you do need that type of unit/bearing to run in oil, as it did on the older airheads by means of the gearbox oil.

Used in an 1150 which doesn't use a wet clutch thrust piston it won't last very long at all. Maybe a day or so. :D

not relay iv been using the 8 ball one in my 1150 just under 20.000 miles no issue at all. the bearing runs in grease.
