On my new-to-me RT, 2010, I've got the BMW 28 litre top box, but the key is not matched to the rest of the bike.

I know how to match the key once the lock barrel is removed, but the question is how to remove the barrel ? I've got the existing key so this should be easy, except I can't find any hole to press in the end-tumbler to release the barrel.

I've already done plenty of surfing and can't find the answer. I guess I could undo all the (many) torx screws that seem to hold the hold thing together, but I'm thinking there must be an easier way.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Hi,
I have just done mine.
If you open the lid you will see a round cover with a slot in it.its the size of a 10p piece.
Remove it,get a bit of welding wire and bend the last inch at right angle.
Have the lock in the LOCKED position.
You will just about see a small slit thro the hole, you need to jigle the wire in that slit tp find the last wafer in the lock and push.
Bit of a pain but not to difficult.

Nice one Wreck Diver - thanks - I did remove that round cover with a coin but buggered if I could see anything in there - I'll look again.
Cheers

Done - very fiddly getting the old barrel out but OK once you find the right place to push in the retaining pawl.
I just needed to remove one tumbler to match the keys.
