Can I order BMW motorcycle spares from a BMW car dealer using the OEM part numbers?
ie, oil filter for my R1200GSA.
Has anybody had any success doing this.
It will save me a trip to Crewe, Southport or Manchester, as Halliwell Jones in Chester is the nearest BMW car dealer.

I would have thought the best people to ask would be the BMW car dealer. :nenau

I have asked, but the parts bloke was not too sure. He's going to get back to me, so in the meantime I thought I'd ask on here.:nenau
You never know, somebody may of done this........

Last time I tried (a visor for a system 4) I was told by the parts person no. That was about 5 years ago and things may have changed since.

Yes of course you can - if the dealer says otherwise it is only because he does not want to.

If, however the dealer orders a lot of bike parts it can cause BMW GB to ask why but it is usually OK.

Just ask the dealer to order regular delivery and not VOR (vehicle off road). VOR is used for priorities.

I used many car dealers over the years - and if you ask they will normally give you a 10% discount!

I order all my spares & accessories from my local BMW car dealer (even my Rallye suit) as long as i go in with the part numbers its no hassle, if you do not have the part numbers then they can do it but takes a bit of time, they even deliver it my my workshop & also get discount for being in the car trade :thumb2

No problem!

The BMW car dealer here in Vienne also took on bikes as well (when his Rover showroom became empty!) Vienne is about 300 miles South of Paris just off the Autoroute du Sud

be nice to your dealer.....

I've found that if I sweet talk my dealer, and if its fairly small bits and peices they will post 'em to me as I live 50 miles away.. They dont charge me for this; if as above I dont take the ++ss......

saves time and fuel.....

To your above question yes they will..... again if you are nice to them and they can get on the correct system to get the order done they will .... you will have to have teh correct part no.s tho' and dont expcet anything but a big 'na na ne na na ' face if teh bits come and they are wrong.....

in my experinece, any hoo....

I have the misfortune to live on the Isle of Wight, no BMW bike dealer, but Snows BMW have a 4 wheel showroom. I ordered my Akrapovic/BMW silencer from them, i just went to the parts dept armed with the part no., didn't say it was for a bike and it arrived the next day.

Yes they can i work in the car trade & the bmw dealer has been able to pull up the part & pictures on screen :D & deliver to us once a day :thumb

Misfortune?

"I have the misfortune to live on the Isle of Wight," .....that is rather unkind to the Corkheads! Lovely climate, beautiful scenery, the sea all round and wonderful sailing. Mild winters and snow and ice unheard of. Cannot think why I left (in 1955) ....mind you following tourist coaches from Newport to St.Lawrence on my 350 Matchless did become too regular an occurence;

You forgot to mention the privilege of being ripped off by wightlink ferries, every time we want to visit the big island.

Car ferries

Yes, you arre right - they were very expensive but I often used to go across by bike (which was craned onto the ferry) or by Air Sea Rescue launch from Saunders Roe where I was working.

I-O-Whities you've slipped :topic

Managed to get three oil filters delivered to Haliwell Jones BMW in Chester, so a result.:thumb2
