BMW communicator battery life

Was going to ask if anyone else has suffered such poor battery performance from their BMW comm system but upon reading the handbook, I now find that max battery performance is only available after approx 20 charge/discharge cycles. Could explain why mine is only lasting 3-4 hrs.
Can anyone confirm this to be true?

even from first use mine has lasted at least 10 hrs listening to music

Aye, always have managed 8-10 hours from the first time I used them.
