BMW Coste

Mightily impressive, thanks! Probably the first 2V boxer based custom I've seen without a loop frame (as far as I recall anyway).

It's a shame it wasn't possible for the photographer to take a few shots with the tank/seat assembly off. The one bit I can't seem to see is how the front of the engine is suspended (Photo sequence is on the link from the ADVrider thread at http://www.flat-twin-bmw.com/t2259-coste-bmw-une-bmw-tres-speciale ).

I wondered that as well but I assume that as the tank is now under the seat that there will be a fairly hefty frame member inside the tank still cant see where it would attach to the engine though. very interesting job ,think it might look a bit better with a fuller fairing, looks a bit sparse twix front wheel and engine.

This is quite and old bike, I seen it on display at a French BMW Rally in the mid 90's. From memory it has suzuki gsxr wheels and forks, it was on a display stand never heard it running

Looking at the pics, the starter motor cover is missing. I'm wondering if he has welded a mounting point at the back of the starter with a couple of fairly slim brackets up inside the frame just behind where the throttle cable is sitting. Wouldn't need to be very substansial, it's only there to aliviate some of the weight from the very solid looking gearbox reinforcement.

It's interesting to see other peoples take on what can be done to the original design. Certainly shows what thinking outside the box can achieve.

Val.
