Just arrived in the office here today having had my first major spill on the 1200 (any bike for that matter - 1year experience). New apartments being developed south side Dublin before Merrion Gates and trucks leaving muck everywhere to the point where now like sheet of glass.

Doing about 25 when suddenly rear wheel goes and I'm on my rear sliding after bike:( . Thankfully clear in front (for once).

Only damage to bike is that the left handguard snapped (although then snapped back) and topbox came off and is slightly damaged. Engine bars protected bike fine and there's hardly a scratch.

Don't think I'll tell her indoors though..she'd never let me out again and I only have it 2 months;) .

Dustin, good news you escaped major injury. You should call in to the site and look for the site foreman. They are obliged to clean all the shite up that they lay down. If that dont work then a phone call to the traffic dept in dublin castle might be in order.

Put mine down today as well, wish I had ordered the engine bars I promised myself 2 months ago!!! Will do now.

Minor scuff on headcover. I was undertaking a tight u-turn and had come to the end, went to put my foot down and discovered the road was about 3 inches lower than expected with the camber - ended up putting the bike down.

Easier to pick up than I thought though!!

V. Slight mark on edge of rear drive casing, I could see that getting damaged in a crash.

Are there any products out there that bolt off the rear mudguard bracket to protect this area??

I must have been really really lucky! Only damaged the engine bar and the plastic head cover. The bike seemed to spin on the bars and the rear tyre. Didn't even scratch the top box

i'm surprised it took....

2 months for the irish mud to get you :D

last month i was in ireland for a week and was relieved to board the ferry home. irish roads are muddy, with pots in mid turn and gravel in good supply everywhere.

enjoyed the wicks very much.

glad you are ok dustin. were you applying power for the back end to go?

(i came off on inch beach. the unbared head was undamaged but i did have a scratched helmet ;) )

Hi Chaps,

Dustin rocks!

Cracking clip and I don't mind a highjack like that!

You are lucky, pass by a church. Last time I abandom ship was with a TDM 850 which both of us ended in hospital, the writter made it the bike is recycled

Having washed the bike following wet trip to NEC went to put the bike away in the garage, wet boot on a very smooth bottom plate on the centre stand, boot slipped off, bike goes away from me in slow motion, I keep hold for dear life but its going over!

Comes to rest on the H&B bars I fitted not long after I bought the bike. Fan bloody tastic! Light scratch on the bottom of one of the H&B bars but no other damage at all.

It would have laid on its side all day I think without a problem. My Varadero when I dropped had it spewed petrol in the same postion!

Fit some bars if you dont have any already, they can save you a fortune when/if you drop it.
