I'm doing some research on what sort of price I could get for a set of BMW F650 panniers. Has anyone sold or bought a set recently? They are in very good condition and around 6-10 mths old.

Also does anyone have any idea what i'l need to do about locks and keys for the them? at the moment they are locked with the ignition key, and that provides obvious problems! (do i just need to put new barrels in them?)

Cheers Ryan

A new set without locks or liners went on eBay.de for £275 so I would say thats your best bet to recoup, and a set (pair) of liners sold on Ebay.uk for about £70. As to the lock issue, sell them unlocked but without a key, the new owner can then get them coded. New locks from Mottorrad are £21

You could put them on http://www.f650.co.uk/ as there seems to be quite a market.

cheers

Cheers Paul, £21 for locks sounds fair, not as much as i thought they'd be, Good idea about selling them unlocked I'd not thought of that!
I've put a post on F650 forum aswell. :thumb

Thanks

Hi, I dont think it's quite as easy as just leaving the panniers unlocked. I'm almost cirtain that you/the dealer will need the key in order to remove the locks to recode them. I think it's a case of the locks can't be propperly removed with out the correct key.

I would suggest that you remove the barrels and hand them to the buyer so's they can get them recoded to their key and fitted back in the panniers.

I also understand that all the dealer needs is the regestration of the bike the key is for so that they can supply a new key to fit the locks on the panniers.

Please, if I'm wrong with any of this, I'll appologise now :bow :bow

If any one knows please post the info so we can all know for the feuture. :)

umm

Sounds like hard work just to replace two locks, I'll look into with more depth.
