I have had fitted the BMW foglights recently and have noticed that they have got moisture on the inside of the glass. Can any body give me some help on how i get into them? I am not very good with things in plastic i tend to break them quite easily. Or should i take them back to the dealer?

Thanks.

You can't get into them - except through where the bulb fits - they're sealed together otherwise.

Don't they dry out when the bulb heats up?

Mike:confused:

OK Mike, i will watch to see if they "Dry out". Was just a little concerned that wet was in there though and i havn`t ridden with them for that long in the rain mate.

Thanks.

wet fogs

I have had this problem in the past with car headlights, my remedy was to remove the bulb and heat the front of the lens carefully with a heatgun (I'm sure a hairdryer would do the same job) Hope this helps
Tom

Thanks tommy,

Now one more question, how do the bulbs come out?

Thanks guys.

The bulbs come out by undoing the 2 allen bolts at the rear, then fighting to get the bulbs out, bit fiddly but they do come out in the end, but mine have never dried out either, with the light on that is, as I ride with mine on all the time, but then there is nowhere for the moisture to go as is all sealed, so can only assume that removing the back cover and leaving is the only way to dry them out.

Thanks Mr.Snooky!

Will try to get the bulbs out and perhaps if i leave them open for a while it may do the trick.

Thanks friend.

Take them back to the BMW dealer and complain under warranty, you'll get a new pair fitted (they all do it) and if the replacement pair 'mist up', complain again and you might get credited for the cost of them.

Than you can buy some lights with a robust mounting system that don't cost an arm & a leg if you drop the bike when stationary...

I am starting to get the message here. OK, what should i have done instead of the BMW fogs?

To be honest mate - just about anything. I had them to begin with, but they're so fragile that fitting them on a bike which has any likelihood of being ridden off road is ridiculous.

I fitted PIAAs, which are excellent, bright and very rough and tough - but on reflection too expensive (not that I'd change now ;)).

Do a search and have a look at the stff Bigtrailbikerider sells - they seem to be a popular choice and will give you (a lot of) change after you've either got a refund or sold them second hand.
