Having trouble fitting one of these. I got it yesterday and when I removed the original BMW Acid (styleeee) one. The new BMW Gel one (£89...to you Sir) is about two inches taller.

This creates a problem because my leads do not have enough play in them to reach the terminals. Also, I was wondering if it's increased height will create another problem with the tank.

I noticed that the battery cradle seems to have a raised bottom (Oooo... Mrs), but this looks like a complete tw@t to remove...not really what I had in mind when a got my new 'Official' battery....I was hoping for a whip the old one out, stick the new one in, settle down to a good DVD with a glass of wine. :mmmm

Any other people had a similar problem...I did a search, but didn't notice anything.

Any advice as to getting around the problem or should I take the new one back and demand one that fits without all the fuss?

Thanks for any help.

Are you trying to fit a ABS size battery to a Non ABS bike? I think there are 2 different sizes. If this is the case there is an adapter in the bottom of your battery tray you will need to remove to fit the larger battery in.

Bring it back...

Get a refund and buy a Hawker Odyssey for about the same money. Yes, you'll need to make up a couple of adapters to attach the main power leads to the battery terminals (try a short length of flattened 15mm copper piping), but you'll have a suberb battery. I don't bother with a trickle charger any more 'cos the Odyssey fires her up sharpish every time.

The Odyssey (PC680) is slightly smaller than the original, but cardboard from the box is a perfect fit for packing. :mmmm They think of everything...

Or get the one with the metal jacket and you wont need the cardboard, nice snug fit. :thumb

There you go CHESHIRE BATTERIES LIMITED CREWE 0044(0)1270 255493 best price yet :thumb

Thanks for all the help. I really, really don't want to go to the trouble of removing the false bottom on the cradle. Day's are getting shorter and colder...working on the street is no fun in this weather.

I'll see if they do a 'smaller' version of the BMW Gel battery at SLM (who supplied me with the large one), if they don't I'll get a refund and go for another 'Acid' version...I think Motoworks sell them.

Thanks again
