I have had a look on the forum and can not seem to find anything on this.

Has anyone fitted the Givi E41 panniers to a GS1200 and have any images.
Are they OK
Are the too bulky
Do they stick out too far

I have a pair from another bike and was wondering if they are worth fitting instead of the VARIO ones, which do not seem to hold as much. And I miss that top flap.....

Regards

Nigel

Standard vario panniers

I had a Givi topbox on a previous bike and the advantage was that it was larger than the standard. However when the supports fractured and stripped the threads etc; the dealer would not believe that I had not overloaded them; I fitted the standard panniers on my present bike - and if anything breaks or goes wrong the dealer will carry the can (and of course one key fits all three bits of luggage, plus ignition, petrol tank and seat.

full Givi set

Hi Nigel

Yes, i have them. I have the later V46 carrier on the bike too which seems to be a better designed solution to the older one. I will take some pictures later. I have yet to use them in anger having only done short hops with them. The exhaust side one does stick out a fair bit but that's the price of having unrestricted space, I will measure the full width for you for comparison. I secretly covet a normal pair of GS panniers but cannot justify the price when I had the Givi set from my old VFR. I also flirted with the Trax system as you can use the smaller slimmer pannier on the exhaust size but couldn't guarantee a proper fitting in conjuction with the Givi top box (which I wanted to keep).

we's got a 55ltr Givi on our bike and all I can say is 'what do you wanna box for - to look the look or to pack things in?'

As for breaking the rack well, yesterday, we came home after a Swedish shopping trip (if you have been to Norway then you'll know why we all do this) and when I took the box off it nearly landed on me foot, "Shit" said I, "that box ain't never been dat heavy before". Sooo, upstairs, I put it on the scales and read 21kgs (46lbs to you sir) - 2 x 3ltr boxes of wine :jager 6 x 0.5ltr bottles of Bishops Finger  3kgs of minced beef and so on and so on....... try that with da standard top box - oh, must'nt forget the boss on the back as well and she ain't no light weight either :angel

The GS never ceases to amaze me :D

A long time overdue - and I forgot what the width was! But here's some pix with a full set on.
