I ordered my GSA without the OEM panniers and frame because I wasn't sure which manufacturer to go with. All things considered I've pretty much decided to go with the stock BMW items and intend to place an order this week. There are a few things I'm not sure about though and would appreciate some advice from those that know.

1 - Are the stock pannier frames made of stainless?

2 - I believe that pannier locks have to be ordered separately. Are these to lock the panniers onto the frames, lock the pannier lids or both?

3 - What are the black corner reinforcment pieces made of?

Ta very much

!. Sorry not sure

2. The locks do both jobs lock the tops on and they also lock panniers to frames

3. The appear to be ABS type plastic they do appear to be fairly robust.

Magnum

is this the P42&67, SS72..... Magnum that I know??

I wonder??

1 Think so, but not certain as I don't have them any more.

2 Yes, both

3 Non robust plastic, but are now available along with bolts to replace the fancy rivets, DAMHIK :augie

  1. Yes they are
  2. You need 3 per pannier, 2 are needed for each end of the lid and act as a hinge if not taking it totally off, 1 locks the pannier to the frame. From memory it's cheaper to buy a complete lock set for panniers and topbox rather than buying individually.
  3. Plastic of some description

Thanks for the info.

I'd really like to stay with the stock stainless frames. Will any other brand of pannier fit them?

Switzerland??

It certainly could be. Is that Derf?

Bejesus....how have you landed up in CH?....

ah..... I get it.... easy drive to Antibes!!!
