When the top box is new - it looks awesome......within days and weeks it gets marked to hell. I know it's an adventure bike and, tbh, I sometimes don't clean my bike between services but does anyone have any recommendation for protection ? I'd rather not wrap it - currently got some ACF50 on it.

Any other ideas ?

Look at all the other posts and threads on cleaning and then keeping the panniers / top box clean / gleaming / shining like the polished armour of an awesome knight on his awesome armoured steed. That's just an idea mind; if you can't be arsed you'll probably not be arsed to clean your top box. Awesome.

Not so much I can't be arsed, what I've been advised by AllYearBiker chap after the ACF50 application. Rather than wash the protection off - I tend to spray off (especially in winter) to get the worst muck off but have been warned off using some detergents which would reduce benefit of acf50.

So, you sometimes don't clean your awesome steed between services, which are 6000 miles apart. You have had some bod round to spray the steed with ACF50, which you then spray off but are worried about detergents.... And you want to keep your top box gleaming.... The answer's been around since 2008....

When new, remove from bike, put in a warm damp free cupboard, cover with nice scratch free cloth and leave there.....
.

Ha ! Good point, but i tend to do those 6,000miles quite quickly, up to 4 services a year - with regular wash-offs in winter months and the 'occasional' clean - it probably gets more attention than some.

I'll get the cotton wool out then !

Tip for inside your adventure panniers, use water based varnish, stops things getting black marks on them, ie - clothes etc. Easy to apply, not expensive!
