If you are going down the HID route, just do the dip beam. Chances are you will need nothing more. Trust me and save some money.

Wapping has a point. The rise time of the HID can be annoying and I sometimes wish I had never changed mine. Unfortunately the ballast for my main HID is a bit corroded and I cannot get it off the mount! So may as well leave it.

Had then on 7 months absolutely brilliant like driving in daylight at night plus very visible in day

Never noticed a huuuuuuuge delay in the HID firing up. If it really bothers anyone, fire up the main beam once as you pull away. Then extinguish. The capacitor will hold its charge for hours, so thereafter almost instant through the perils of a journey in darkness.

I always wondered if there was sometime wrong with mine. The only seem to keep the quick start time you talk about for about 5 mins. Have I got duff capacitors in my system? If so which part of the HID setup do I need to replace? I would guess at the black box between the ballast and red/blue wires. Cheers for any help you could offer.

I used to have HID's. Total crap, never worked properly, threw them in the bin, complete waste of time and money.

It's my own fault really, bought some cheapy ones off t'interweb, can't even remember what make, thought I was being clever I didn't know about this forum or Mr Wassall (think that's the chap, sorry if i've got it wrong) at the time. Just running standard H7's right now.

If your looking to save on power/fuel by using LED instead of halogen or HID then get a set of micro Hella's and buy LED H3 lamps for them. They will work as well as any LED lights and save you nearly £400 on the price you quoted. http://www.omgcar2010.com/pair-of-h3-25-smd-led-white-trucks-fog-light-bulbs-12v_p6351.html is an example from a company I have used several times for both HID and LED but I am sure you will get them on eBay or many other places as well.
LED lights are very bright so great for getting you seen but they don't have the lumens so don't light up the road anything like as good. Perfect for day/night running lights though and even better if you have a HID headlight as they are near enough the same colour instead of the yellow halogen light.

if you want decent LED spots or floods buy a set from ebay off this bloke, http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/2allbuyer/ they are 100% waterproof, i had them on a v twin for well over a year and they have been fine with vibration etc.

there was a company advertising on here saying they designed the lights etc (think thats a load of PR twaddle myself) and they were charging well over double than the ebay bloke, but if you want someone in the UK.......

swap the pins in the connector then it should work

Did not work ON fit, not did not fit. However it was about 10mm longer than a Hella H3 bulb making the fitting a pig.

Nice one Swissrob. Yep, they do work with the pins reversed. I reckon some back to front wiring in the new bulbs but actually it doesn't matter because it was 2 min job to swap em.

Phots to follow but the colour match to the HID dipped is spot on.

i mentioned it because toyota also has wiring that is different to the majority so a lot of people with LED lights have to play with the wiring.
