i`m thinking of ordering the bmw low seat conversion for my 1150 adv 03 they want 177 pound incl vat. has any body bought one ` are they worth it, how much extra lowness do you get, and can you keep the tool wrap with the after market one...cheers stainy.

Stainy,

I have one on my ADV I find it just a comfy as the standard, I could touch the ground with the standard seat but not quite flat foot with both you gain approximately an inch which to me made all the difference in confidence when coming to a stop in a hurry or on uneven ground.

The tool roll is as per the standard fitting and as you have found the cost is about a third of the aftermarket ones having said that the aftermarket ones like corbin and seargent are far better in quality and comfort but for three to four times the price of the oem one.

I am no iron bum these days I tend to ride for two or three hours at a time so I don't have any issues with comfort but if you ride longer at a time I would consider the others.

Do a search and you should find many threads on the subject.

Hope it helps

Jack

The standard seat is 900mm the low seat is 860mm. I got the low seat when my bike was new, but also had it lowered an extra 1 1/2" only cost £50 to have it done by the upholsterer that the dealer use. tool roll fits under the seat no problem and seat is dead comfy but i have been used to Ducati's.
