Hi
Does anyone have a good hotel near the BMW museum in Munich they can recommend... 2 x bikes September.

If you are thinking late September, prepared to be fleeced due to the Oktoberfest ....

I prefer to stay in Dachau, my choices in order of preference would be the hotel fischer, hotel gotz (spelt with 2 dots over the o - cant find it on my keyboard) and the hotel central.

All reasonably cheap, all are near to the U bahn so dead easy to get to central munich for pennies, gotz is v friendly but a bit more in need of decoration (the owner collect english coins so be prepared to be asked)

All do breakfast but central has no restaurant for evening meals.

With Munich the hotel doesn't need to be on he doorstep as the U Bahn /trams/buses and S bahn are all part of a very efficient integrated and cheap transport network. I normally stop in the suburb of Harras in the south west of the city (5 minutes from the centre by U bahn and about 15 minutes from the Olympic Park and the BMW musuem.

Have a look at the Hotel Carmen of the Hotel K & K, if you do decide to stay and I would recommend the Wirtshaus in Sendling (5 minutes walk from the hotels ) for excellent traditional scran .

Yes i agree we are now booked into a hotel at Landshut so we hope it works out, last times we have always stayed in the town...but its to minty now.

Wel just back from Austria and had a stop over in Munich on Sunday 10th, a lovely summers afternnoon so i thought now't better than lunch and a walk around the olympic park and visit the BMW museum.

Well the park and lunch was lovely, the BMW world was interesting but 80% of the museum was shut to the public, absolute bummer especially as what I did get to see was a vast improvement over the old museum !!!

But don't get too excited...

The museum is very stylish, but short on substance. Lots of lovely bikes, but all behind glass. Luckily the cars are easier to get to.

World of BMW is simply a giant showroom for current models.

We stayed at the Hotel Uhland - scored well in Tripadvisor and was very comfortable.

About 15 minutes ride to the Museum.

Just back from Munich yesterday, finally got a good look around the museum and it was a nice little aside to the Christmas markets, quite an interesting set of displays of the design processes in the temporary exhibit section.
Always wondered how they did the full size clay models of the cars !
