BMW Nav III Question

Can someone with the BMW Nav III tell me if you can plug in a normal set of earphones or do you need the AutoCom system to be able to hear the unit ?

You can hear it with a simple earpiece from Maplins into the plug at the base of the cradle.
The Autocoms, Baehrs and Starcoms of this world are needed if you want to talk to somebody else.

The Autocom lead ends in a normal audio plug. If it's the right size I'd guess it'll work ok.
