Hello to you all.

I have been following postings on this forum since last September/October time last year and found a number of items interesting and some disturbing, but as yet have made no posting. In fact this is my first to any forum.

Hopefully I have posted this under both Technical and GPS Info.

Regarding my query:

I own a Garmin 2610 unit (BMW Nav 2) and have done since April last year. I use it frequently and believe I am competent in its use. Prior to that a Street Pilot 111. I have come across routing niggles many times, but generally only where new roads have been built, which have not yet included in mapsource, or where an underpass under a roundabout, or a bridge over a road, has not been recognised as such.

I have always updated the Nav 2 directly off the Garmin site and until now have never had any unit routing issues. However, I recently downloaded BMW’s Nav 2 4.30 update and as a first trial drove a 30 miles route to my eldest, a route I use to test any download or upgrade (sad, I know, but better than finding problems when trying to find a hotel in some foreign land in the rain). My eldest’s waypoint was selected and the unit allowed to calculate the route. At several roundabouts directions were given to take the 2nd exit when in fact the route showed the 1st exist, there being no ‘1st exist’, not even a ‘blind’ exist. This was not the case when the unit was programmed with Garmin’s own 3.90. Directions were good if the same route was selected on Mapsource (City Navigator v6.5) on my PC.

Anyone else identified this problem?

Regards, Gladys
