Just did the BMW Off Road Skills course, level one on a 1200 GS.
The course was excellent & great fun. I had never been off road before but the progression was incredible. Most people chose to ride the 650, two of us had 1200's, but the 1200 was great and just road over everything in it's path, even while ripping off the sump guard. Considering the abuse the bike was taking it crashed quite well, apart from the sump guard the only other damage was a dent in the silencer when I fell sideways on a slope.
I can't recomend the course highly enough.
Charley Boorman was there doing level two & Russ was doing level one, both really nice guys. Also HRH Prince Michael of Kent was in my group & was an inspiration for the older generation. He is taking part in a section of a ride from Vladivostok to St. Petersburgh. I hope I have the same vitality at his age.
A great two days which I will do again later in the year, I still can't belive I rode that bike where I did.
