Anyone know if it's possible to fit a BMW power socket to a 650 (2005 model)?

And how difficult it would be to install?

Would be handy for the autocom/heated jacket.

Yes!

I have 2 mounted on my handlebars and one through plastic over exhaust pipe at rear.
Remember to use a waterproof (pref.) in line fuse with suitable wiring especially if you are planning to put high draw items on the end.
(Maplins sell nice fuse holders with caps- use blade fuses which I prefer and are widely available rather than those 'glass' cylindrical ones.

Mine are connected straight to the battery with fuse close by and accessible.

Not difficult if you have a few DIY skills-
Route the cables carefully so they don't rub anywhere.
Rubber lined 'P' clips to clamp on to handlebars- (there are many ways to fix these but handy there)
Youy can make a 'holder' out of a piece of perspex, one hole to accomodate the DIN socket, smaller one for bolt to got through with nylock nut.
Suggest you get DIN socket with sprung cap lid- to avoid water ingress.

Shouldn't ...

... there already be one fitted ? If it's a GS variant, look under the left frame rail (sitting on the bike) by your knee :augie

Yeah... the standard fitment is in a crap position, as said, easy to miss if you don't know it's there

I wired in an extra one via a centech fuse panel under the seat :)

I'll take a look, didn't notice it before... then again I wasn't looking for it!

It's tucked just under the frame just below the tank pannel.

I added an extra socket on a lead direct from the battery with heavy duty 25 amp cable 'the OE one is only 5 amp' This was done so that SHMBO could run her 12v hair dryer off the bike when at the EM2 bash. This worked well untill the hair dryers fuse holder melted  nothing wrong with the lead though, that never even got hot. :D

Just for information.

The Power Socket is standard fitment on the Twin Spark models, post 2004. Previous single spark models were not so blessed :augie
