I am reluctantly selling my September 2012 registered R1200GS for £3,150. The bike is located at my home, near Christchurch in Dorset, and has done c.21,100 miles. During my ownership, it has been kept in a dry garage and regularly serviced. I believe that I am the second owner of the bike. It had, until March 2020, been used every day for my relatively short commute to work and some longer excursions but, as I am now retired and have other priorities, I can no longer justify owning the GS.

The GS comes with 12 months road tax and a comprehensive set of service and MOT records are included. It will require an MOT and service in August.

A general description of the bike and items included follows:
  • Purchased from Bath Road Motorcycles (no longer trading) by me in April 2015
  • Silver and black finish in good cosmetic condition (see photos)
  • There are some paint chips on the piston head covers and some corrosion around the crankcase cover and exhaust, other than those imperfections, I believe that the cosmetic appearance of the bike is good
  • Heated grips and ABS
  • Regularly serviced, kept in a dry garage and well cared for
  • Two Vario panniers and one Vario top box plus bespoke bag inserts
  • The top box raising mechanism is very stiff, but works
  • Givi Xstream expandable tank-lock tank bag plus filler cap kit
  • Mudsling mudguard to the rear
  • Datatagged and registered
  • Two keys
  • Heated grips
  • No alarm
  • A Touratech lockable screen extender/ spoiler
  • A set of Touratech rocker cover protectors fitted prior to my ownership
  • Both tyres have plenty of wear remaining
  • The bike is owned outright, there is no HP or loan on the bike
  • The rear shock adjuster is very stiff although this hasn’t affected the ride quality for me
  • The bike is a bit sluggish to start if left uncharged for more than a few days. I fitted a replacement Motobatt battery in 2018
  • The exhaust is original to the bike
  • The bike has not been lowered or similarly modified.
Optional extras:
  • TomTom Rider 550 Premium GPS and cradle, purchased in June 2021 - this is available at an additional cost of £75
Conditions of sale:
  • A prospective purchaser must satisfy themselves that the bike is fit for purpose, is roadworthy and mechanically sound; there are no guarantees offered with this sale.
  • I will not permit a test ride unless the full, agreed sale price is shown as cleared funds in my bank, or I have the full amount in cash on the day of the test ride. No other form of security will be accepted.
  • Full payment must be made by bank transfer or in cash prior to the bike being removed from my property. No other form of payment will be accepted.
  • This is a single purchase sale; no trade-in or part-exchange deal will be accepted.
  • The prospective purchaser must arrange their own transportation for the bike on the day of the sale which can only take place at my property in Dorset (BH23).
  • I will not accept a return after sale.

I’m very interested. Can you PM your number for a chat and when I can come to view?

Thanks
Nick

Hello. Thank you for the information on the road tax. I don't understand why, but I cannot send a PM to oldnotbold.
Yes Road Tax is revoked at the time of sale But sadly there is no reimbursement if you sell it for example on the first of the month then the road tax is already paid for the month but they don't refund you anything Just revoke it when you inform them

"oldnotbold" He is not a Subscriber

No private messaging for him I believe

No surprise there Chris, good advert, good description and good price. That’s how to sell a bike (y)

Thank you KMD, that's so nice of you to say. My wife and I are now really sad. We believe that it's the right decision, but we've both had some amazing times on this, and other GS's, that make the decision difficult. The reasons for selling are sad in themselves; getting older, finding that the bike gets heavier every year, the immediate need to spend lots of money on replacement clothes, helmets etc. and the realisation that we can't justify the cost of what has been a great bike. It sounds like the bike will be well used by its new owner. Daft how attached you can get to an inanimate object!

Bloody typical, just what I was looking for but to slow 😫

If it doesn’t go could you let me know please

Great price and great ad, my how these have come down in value. Last year this would be at least £5K, this is by far the cheapest ive seen for such a low mileage and basically one owner. She will tidy up nicely, new set of cylinder covers and a clean up and thats a lovely looking bike..

Brilliant machine for someone for sure, im going to hang onto mine for a while yet..

Guarded sale terms suggest fastidious ownership! Value if I ever seen it. Good luck to the new owner you won't lose much over and above basic maintenance and I hope the OP finds an alternative interest in life.

Thank you Nick for a perfect sale. It was really nice to meet you today and it looks as if the GS is going on some wonderful trips. Good luck and be safe. Chris & Bev
