BMW R1200RT 2014 cannot engage hill assist function

i just got my new bmw r1200rt and i was playing with the features in the garage, i am sure my bike has the hill assist function, but i cannot make it engage.
what am i doing wrong please?

should i be pulling the brake lever very hard? bike in gear or neutral? should it be on an inclination?

How steep is the hill in your garage?

there is no hill, it is a flat surface.

On mine, I squeeze the brake hard when the bike is stopped and a symbol like a handbrake symbol in a car should show on the dash, squeeze again or clutch out in gear to release.

If it was somehow not installed at the factory in error, your dealer can download it and install. It is software only.

On the test ride, I just gave the front brake a short hard squeeze at standstill to engage as mentioned above. All very neat.
